TCT standards
We develop our qualifications according to our Code of Practice (PDF, 250KB). The Code of Practice sets out our approach to assessment and demonstrates our aim of transparency in our dealing with those who use our assessments.
We regularly review and update Cambridge programmes and qualifications to make sure they reflect the latest developments in teaching and learning and meet schools’ needs around the world.
In 2016 we commissioned UK NARIC, the national agency in the UK for the recognition and comparison of international qualifications and skills, to carry out in-depth, independent benchmarking studies to compare Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS & A Level to the UK education system. The studies found Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS & A Level to be robust qualifications that are comparable to the standard of UK GCSE and A Level. In October 2019, a further study by UK NARIC found that Cambridge IGCSE can be considered of a comparable level to the reformed GCSE in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

TCT Regulation
We are recognized for the provision of a number of our qualifications by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) the UK government’s regulator for awarding organizations and regulated qualifications in England. We are also recognized in Wales by Qualifications Wales and in Northern Ireland by CCEA.
TCT programs and qualifications
Cambridge programs and qualifications set the global standard for international education. They are created by subject experts, rooted in academic rigour and reflect the latest educational research.
The four stages of the Cambridge Pathway lead seamlessly from primary through secondary and pre-university years. Schools can shape the curriculum around how they want students to learn.
Every year, nearly a million Cambridge learners prepare for their future with an education from Cambridge International. Together with schools, we develop Cambridge learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged – equipped for success in the modern world.
TCT Working within the University of Cambridge
As part of Cambridge Assessment Group, we enjoy close working relationships with our sister organisations in the group, Cambridge Assessment English and OCR.
We collaborate with other parts of the University of Cambridge as well. Cambridge University Press is one of our core publishers, producing resources that support our qualifications. We also work closely with the university’s Faculty of Education to develop training programmes for teachers.
We also draw on the expertise of Cambridge Mathematics to develop our maths curriculum, qualifications and resources. Cambridge Mathematics is a collaborative enterprise committed to securing a world-class mathematics education for all students from 3-19 years old. It was set up in 2015 by our parent organisation Cambridge Assessment together with the University’s Faculties of Mathematics and Education and Cambridge University Press.
